A FEW WORDS

About Me

From performance to sound design

I’ve always been a musician first, but at this point I would consider myself more of a producer and sound designer. The switch was gradual and deliberate – after eighteen years performing professionally as a pianist and vocalist, it was time to explore new horizons. I began to experience tendonitis in my right-hand wrist about twelve years on the gig circuit in Montréal, and a genuine need for a change of pace was evident. I had been doing more production work in my home studio during that period until eventually I was no longer accepting performance gigs. Studio work became more frequent, and as a distraction I started to play Street Fighter 5 at a professional level. After winning 3rd place at DreamHack in 2021, I decided to hang up those skates in lieu of practicing a new discipline: implementing audio into games. I did the online course “School of Video Game Audio”, acquired the skills necessary to enter the gaming market, and have been working on the craft ever-since. I then took Harvard’s CS50 course in order to get my head around C++ as well as gain a better facility at visual scripting. It is a rare treat to be able to combine three passions into one arena. Composition, Sound Design, and Implementation. This is way too much fun! In 2022 I was awarded a grant from the CMF to build a prototype for a 1 vs 1 fighting game. I incorporated Feckless Games and we were off to the races. I hired seven of the most talented people I could find and we built out a humble prototype that showcased innovative block-mechanics for the genre. Now that Feckless has come to a close, I am currently freelancing as a sound designer and producer from my home studio in Saint-Sauveur, Québec. I am also working on an updated and in-depth Wwise demo reel that I can’t wait to share… Hit me up!
